MY JOURNEY
Hello, thank you for the opportunity to communicate with you today.
My name is Robbert van Bloemendaal, and I am proud to be a long-time resident of Rowlett, having called this community home for over 34 years. I’ve had the honor of serving you before, having been elected twice to the Rowlett City Council, Place 1. During that time, I was actively involved in our city, serving on the Audit Committee, Arts & Humanities, and Parks boards.
I also completed the Leadership Rowlett program, as well as the Citizens Police Academy, Fire Academy, the Rowlett City Academy and CERT training. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of how our city operates and how we can better serve our residents.
My commitment to this community extends beyond city government. I served as President of the Rowlett Lions Club for 6 years, and I’ve also served on the board of Keep Rowlett Beautiful, organizations focused on strengthening and improving our community.
Professionally, I bring real-world business experience. I owned and operated a successful business for 19 years. Starting with a single purchase in 1995, I expanded to five additional agencies, grew to three branch locations, and managed a team of 80 employees and independent contractors, generating annual sales of $15 million.
I’ve also been actively involved in the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2017, serving as an Ambassador, Chairman of the Ambassadors, and as a member of the Board of Directors.
In addition, I created a local jobs page on Facebook that now connects over 17,000 residents and employers, helping people find work and helping businesses find the talent they need right here in our community. I also created a Facebook group of 7,000 members for Rowlett "The Rowlett Community" so our citizens can discuss issues, refer opportunities, and ask questions about our community.
All of this comes down to one thing: I believe in serving Rowlett.
I believe in listening to residents, making thoughtful decisions, and ensuring that our city continues to grow in a way that benefits everyone.
I’m running for Rowlett City Council, Place 5, because I care deeply about this community and its future.
